May 2nd and finally a Holly Blue settles enough for me to photograph it!
May 2nd. The Holly Blue has a light silvery blue underwind with small black spots which sets it apart from the Common Blue Butterfly - that one always arrives later in the year.
The male is distinguished from the female in that the female has large dark tips, hence this is a male.

Taken on November 3rd on a sunny but cold day with it enjoying one of only a few small patches of flowering buddleia left in our garden. This is only the second time since 2000 that we've had a butterfly in November!
