Kendall Lineage

I WOULD LIKE TO DEDICATE THE KENDALL’s PAGES TO MY FATHER, DEREK EDWIN KENDALL, WHO STARTED ME ON TRACING THE FAMILY HISTORY.

This is my paternal (fathers) line. My late father progressed this lineage back to the 17th century from Coventry (in the West Midlands) where I lived at the time, to Lichfield/Tamworth (in Staffordshire). The main lineage were bricklayers and builders and were well respected in Coventry - some members of the family also became wheelwrights. My father passed away in 1988 and it wasn’t until 1999 that I carried on researching the lineage.

Using the KENDALL rootsweb I was able to ‘meet’ two 4th cousins in the USA (their joint ancestor being part of the Coventry bricklaying line), and finding out that their ancestor had been sent to Coventry to learn bricklaying, but on return to USA he became a jeweller! I understand that due to WWII the two ‘branches’ had lost contact, so it has been nice to link this line back together again, and pass messages between USA and my great-uncle who sadly passed away a few years ago.

Discussing this line I have found another contact in Australia, and it has been nice to go through both of our lineages, and help each other to see whether we have a ‘firm’ connection, even if its back to the 18th century.

As you may have know, my condition EDS was probably passed on genetically by my father, although he never showed any obvious symptoms throughout his life (males apparently don't usually show the symptoms apparently). From discussions with family members, my grandfather used to be sent to the local hospital, to have his joints put back in, (shoulders etc), but nothing else. A small number of my relations show possible signs of EDS, but have not been diagnosed as being sufferers. Interestingly my great-grandmother Lizzie CROFT, showed signs of EDS through her facial characteristics, though this is most unusual as she was able to have a number of children, maybe she was the carrier but didn’t show the condition, we shall never know.

A basic tree of the KENDALLs is shown, if your KENDALL's have Staffordshire, or Coventrian connections, I’d love to hear from you.Pictures of some of the KENDALL ancestors, will be included in the near future.
