Paul's Book Review

Paul read and thoroughly enjoyed an Historical novel about Hereward the Wake by Lincolnshire author Laurence J. Brown. Go here to read a review of the book.

 Winceby Church
Since I (Paul) was a child I knew there had been a church at Winceby and that it had been demolished in the early 1960's. I was given (and granted permission to reproduce on the website) four pictures taken in the late 1950's and I have included some basic info about the Church. I hope that you find it interesting.

Picture of the Month

Every month we put a favourite picture taken by us up on this page. It has a broad range of subjects as well as Butterflies and Astronomy so do watch out for the next picture of the month! The POTM has been re-vamped but the initial 'current' POTM remains the same format so do take a look and enjoy!

BBC Lincolnshire

BBC (Radio) Lincolnshire have me in occasionally to talk about space and astronomy so if you are in Lincolnshire & the surrounding area then tune in to FM 94.9 or 104.7 to find out what's up & happening in the night sky for the month ahead. Topics covered often include a round up of sky events, planets available, what stars to look out for & identify as well as info on the ISS (International Space Station) & when it can be seen.

Public Star Nights

Over the last few years I have held approx. 9 or 10 times a year Starnights at Gibraltar Point near Skegness in conjunction with the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust (LWT). I take a Telescope and show the public the night sky, or if cloudy, I give a public talk on an aspect of Astronomy and Space. The 2010 dates are on our site. Each evening will have a specific theme with a publicized talk but if the sky is clear enough to observe then the telescope will be used instead. The Starnights will also be spread amongst four LWT sites for 2009: Gibraltar Point Visitor Centre, Skegness, Whisby Wildlife Park near Lincoln, the Trust Headquarters at Banovallum House, Horncastle and Far Ings Nature Reserve. I also now do Starnights for the Forestry Commission at Chambers Farm Wood near Bardney and at Normanby Hall, North Lincolnshire so see the Starnights page for details.
