This wonderfully bright naked eye comet is just closing in on
the Sun reaching Perihelion on January 12th. It was fortunate that
we had clear skies just before sunset on January 10th when the comet gradually
appeared out of the twilight sky about 15 minutes after sunset. Here are
a small selection of the images I took using a Canon 300D DSLR with a 500mm
F8 lens and a wide field shot with a Minolta Dimage Z1 and a 1/4 sec exposure
F3.5. The wide field view including Venus was taken with the Canon and it's
18-55mm lens and was 0.6 sec at F5.6
