This is the 14" F5 Dobsonian Reflector with me and Barry Davie-Harris.
The 14" used to be on a very heavy Equatorial Mount but it was sold several
years ago and Barry kindly designed and built a Dobsonian base for the scope. |
A closer view of the 14" F5 Newtonain Reflector as a Dobsonian Telescope. |
...and how it used to look when it had the Equatorial Mount.
The main reason for selling the mount was that it was really a very heavy
mount more suited to a permanent site such as an observatory rather than
something which could be easily transported which was what I really needed.
At least it went to a good home - a friend required a heavy duty mount for
his 17" scope! |
This shows the main three instruments that are used by Barry &
myself. On the left is the 14" F5 Dobsonian Telescope, middle shows the 6.25"
F4 Binocular 'Scope and I am standing with the 10" F5 Equatorially mounted
Newtonian. Both the larger two telescopes have been used at one time or the
other to produce some of the images in my gallery.

Here is a view of the 10" F5 Newtonian with a new Pillar stand which
allows me to permanently set it up to be polar aligned. In this view it was
set up for solar observing although the Sun was quite bland that day! |
