Mainly Northern Lights flight images but some images
were managed taken when at home

M78 taken with the 10" Newtonian and Canon
300D. NGC 2071 to its lower left.
|
The Xmas Tree cluster NGC 2264 including the star S Monoceros
(brightest star near base of Xmas Tree). Taken with the 10" Newtonian
and Canon 300D
|
Comet Lulin taken on March 2nd. This is a composite of processed
images first done tracking the stars then a second one tracking the Comet
then the two combined. Image taken with the 10" Newtonian reflector and Canon
300D.

| March 5th/6th
|
| Upgraded DSLR camera to a Canon 50D
so here are the initial results |
Comet Lulin taken on the evening of March 5th. That night the
comet lay just south of the open cluster M44, Praesepe or Beehive cluster
and using the Equinox 80ED for a wide field and doing two sets of images,
one of the comet and one of the cluster I produced this composite of the conjunction
between comet and cluster. The comet has been a little over processed to
bring out more of the faint tail.

Comet Lulin taken on the evening of March 5th using the Equinox
80ED for a wide field. This view shows the comet to the right of Delta Cancer
the brightests star in the view.
|
This is the seperate image of the open cluster M44, Praesepe
or Beehive cluster taken using the Equinox 80ED and Canon 50D for a wide field.
|
Comet Lulin taken from 23:22 to 23:38 March 5th. This shows
the actual motion of the comet over 17 minutes. Image taken with the
10" Newtonian reflector and Canon 50D.
|
Globular Cluster M3 taken close to midnight March 5th - 6th
with the 10" and Canon 50D. Sum of 16 x 20 seconds exposure at ISO 1600.
|
M51 taken in the early hours of March 6th with the 10" Newtonian
and Canon 50D. Additional processing applied to bring out faint detail in
the spiral arms. This is a sum of just 7 x 30 seconds exposure at ISO 3200.

Then the Moon got too high in the sky! 10" plus Canon 50D

Comet Lulin taken on the evening of March 14th when it lay
close to NGC 2392 the Eskimo Nebula. Taken using the 10" and Canon 50D to
get the nebula (blue/green patch left of centre).

Cropped view of the Eskimo Nebula from the image at left.
