Hello and Welcome to our site!

AstroSpace is the collective name for our web site which covers our main areas of interest of Astronomy and Space, Genealogy and Butterflies. These pages are provided & written by Lincolnshire based Husband and Wife team UK Amateur Astronomer PAUL L MONEY FRAS FBIS and Lorraine M Money. The Astronomy section of the site provides an introduction to the range of Talks/Lectures available from Paul to the local & UK community, links to his image gallery and many links to Astronomy & Space related Web pages in the UK and around the world as well as providing pages and links to the six Lincolnshire Astronomical Societies and the newly formed Lincolnshire Astronomy and Space Association.
Lorraine's part of the site covers Genealogy, an interest we both share as well as Astronomy, and a few pages on the medical conditions she suffers from - FM, EDS and Coeliac disease. Butterflies are our Summertime passion and a large section of the site keeps you up to date with what we've seen during the year. The rest of our site is of other General interest items including something about us and some of the other things we like and have found on the web.

How to use this site
Further down this page you will find a series of quicklinks to recent Astrospace news and updates as well as a few quick links to other web sites we have found interesting.

Use the main links shown at left to visit the main parts of the site and then use the new links that appear (again on the left) to further explore that section in more detail. Unless you leave the site you should always be able to click on the 'Welcome' link at left to return here to the main introduction.

Have fun exploring our site and do keep coming back to see what changes we have made & what we have been up to.
Please note that no part of the site may be reproduced or copied without our permission but do feel free to link to our site and let us know what you think of it!

Northern Lights Flights
I (Paul) am one of the 'Guest Astronomers' on the Omega Holidays night flights to see the wonders of the Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern Lights. I have added a page to the site explaining what happens on these flights and when they will take place so why not do something different this year and take a trip to see one of natures wonders of the night. I have recently added some of the pictures I have taken on recent flights so why not take a look - images include the November 2007 flights that I've been on. Dates for early 2008 are now available.

The Cruise Centre Norwegian Northern Lights
Nigel Bradbury and I are the guest Astronomers invited by the Cruise Centre to come along on a cruise up the Norwegian Coast to see and explain the Northern Lights so take a look at my page explaining the details.

Paul's Book Review

Paul read and thoroughly enjoyed an Historical novel about Hereward the Wake by Lincolnshire author Laurence J. Brown. Go here to read a review of the book.

 Winceby Church
Since I (Paul) was a child I knew there had been a church at Winceby and that it had been demolished in the early 1960's. I have recently been given (and granted permission to reproduce on the website) four pictures taken in the late 1950's and I have included some basic info about the Church. I hope that you find it interesting.

Picture of the Month

Every month we put a favourite picture taken by us up on this page. It has a broad range of subjects as well as Butterflies and Astronomy so do watch out for the next picture of the month! For 2007 the pages have been  re-vamped using Flash Animation but the old style earlier years will still be available for a short while so do enjoy them.

BBC Radio Lincolnshire

BBC Radio Lincolnshire have me chatting occasionally with some of their presenters so if you are in Lincolnshire & the surrounding area then tune in to FM 94.9 or 104.7 to find out what's up & happening in the night sky for the month ahead. Topics covered often includes a round up of sky events, planets available, what stars to look out for & identify as well as info on the ISS (International Space Station) & when it can be seen.

Public Star Nights 2008

Over the last few years I have held approx. 9 or 10 times a year Starnights at Gibraltar Point near Skegness in conjunction with the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust (LWT). I take a Telescope and show the public the night sky, or if cloudy, I give a public talk on an aspect of Astronomy and Space. The 2008 dates are now organized and uploaded to our site. Each evening will have a specific theme with a publicized talk but if the sky is clear enough to observe then the telescope will be used instead. The Starnights will also be spread amongst four LWT sites for 2008: Gibraltar Point Visitor Centre, Skegness, Whisby Wildlife Park near Lincoln, the Trust Headquarters at Banovallum House, Horncastle and Far Ings Nature Reserve. New for 2008 is a Public Starnight for the Forestry Commission at Chambers Farm Wood near Bardney see the Starnights page for details.

Monthly Sky - a look at what's up in the night sky for the current month.
