NightScenes - The Monthly Night Sky for the UK & Ireland
NightScenes (current edition 2008) is
an A5 paperback monthly night sky guide for amateur astronomers and the
general public. It has 40 pages (inc. the covers), full colour charts
and Photographs all produced by the author (i.e. me!) and 12 all sky charts
set for 10pm GMT (11pm when BST is in force) one for each month. It provides
the observer, whether casual or more advanced, charts of the night sky ‘at
a glance’ for the whole year. Use them to follow the marvellous & tranquil
beauty of the ever changing heavens. Designed to allow anyone to identify
which constellations, planets and bright stars are available to view at any
time during the year. Nightscenes includes images taken by the author of aspects
of the night sky.
The 2008 edition also includes a new monthly quick planetary
summary and several Asteroids and 2 Dwarf Planets
with finder charts produced with permission using Guide 8 Software from Project
Pluto.
Nightscenes Companion is the essential supplement to the highly successful Nightscenes - the Monthly Night Sky Guide for the year. It gives an explanatory introduction to many of the terms found in Nightscenes and other observing guides covering transits, eclipses, conjunctions, RA and Dec, Retrograde motion and planetary definitions and much more . Not a study of the science of Astronomy as such, but more a handy reference book to keep by your side when using Nightscenes to view the wonders of the heavens.
